STD Bus Temposonic InterfaceCard

Designed for use with the STD Bus Systems, it's a versatile device that can be usedin the newer STD-32® systems as a solid choice for reading displacementinformation. The STD-5601 allows simple interfacing to two Temposonics ^TMnon contacting absolute transducers. Temposonics ^TMtransducers are completely solid state and utilize magnetostrictive action.Linear distances may be measured with a resolution of 0.0005-inch or better at lengths up to 65 inches. The STD 5601 measures the time of travel of the sonic pulse generated by the transducers utilizing a start/stop counter with a 28 MHZ crystal oscillator time base. (Note: 56 MHZ crystal oscillator time base are also available).

How the transducers work!

FEATURES----STD BUS TRANSDUCER INTERFACE

• Universal Processor compatibility-Z80, 8085, 6800, 6809 and others. Also compatible with any standard parallel computer interface.
• Provides interface to 2 Temposonic transducers simultaneously.
• 17 bitcounters (131,000 counts maximum) accumulates data for readout by program from each transducer.
• Auxiliary parallel interface provides 16 bit parallel output from transducer 1 anda data ready signal. Drive capability is 15 TTL loads.
• Auxiliary Bit Parallel interface can be used by Programmable Controllers to read the data from one Temposonic transducer (Note: No STD BUS interface is needed for this mode).
• Stable crystal controlled reference clock oscillator provides high resolution position measurements.
• Resolutionof 0.001 inch over distances up to 131 inches with a data update time of one half millisecond per foot of measurement length (28 MHZ crystal and 4 recirculation). Resolution of 0.0005 inch over distance up to 65 inches (56 MHZ crystal and 4 recirculation or 28 MHZ crystal and 8 recirculations.)
• Measurement scan update continuously or initiate a new update each time the data is read.
• Status LEDs indicate Temposonic each transducer is operating.  Status LEDs indicate CPU is reading the data.
• Circuit card is not required to be matched with a particular transducer. (Software data scaling may be required for best results).
• Data update status Bit provides indication that count has updated since last reading by CPU.
• Multiple boards may be used with different dip switch settings for memory addressing to provide flexible system expansion.
• I/O memory mapping is processor dependent (lower 8 address bits are decoded on board).
• Board is reliable in industrial environments as shown by installation of more than 1000 boards.
• Operating temperature range 32-122 degrees Fahrenheit.
