The Digitron
LinearPosition Transducer Interface (LPTI)
cardprovidesan
interface for four absolute linear transducers ofmagnetostrictive
type for the PC/AT ISA bus.
This interface card is designed for use in servo
positioning,instrumentation,
and process control applications which require accurateposition data.
The
LPTI accurately measures position information from alinear transducer
using
a high frequency clock (56Mhz) and 20 bit counters. The counter contents
are
provided, at user selected I/O addresses, to thePC in a polled or
interrupt
mode.
How
transducers
work!
The LPTI provides fast and accurate position feedback for
servoposition
applications that utilize linear position transducers like Temposonics
TMposition transducers.
The LPTI has 4 general purpose TTL I/O lines, configurable
insoftware.
Each TTL I/O point is independently defined as an output or aninput.
The LPTI is designed for use in IBMTM
compatible computers with the PC/AT ISA bus. The LPTI interfaces with
most
linear position transducers including TemposonicsTM
I (with external recirculation box) and TemposonicsTM
II (with DPM or recirculation box).
A comprehensive users manual with wiring diagrams and
softwareis
included. An executable MSDOSTM
program
and the C source code is also provided. The executable program can be
use
to setup and test the LPTI. The source code provides examples of the
software
interface between the LPTI and the PC.
Features on these position transducer counter cards include:
- 20 bit counters allow the user to achieve higher resolution and
use
longtransducer lengths.
- 56 MHZ Oscillator provides faster update times and higher
resolutions
forhigh performance control systems.
- Sophisticated Gate Array technology provides the high reliability
and
highspeeds necessary to perform in a demanding industrial environment.
- Synchronous Interrogate Pulse logic reduces position jitter and
improves
stability.
- Additional axes are easily handled with multiple cards at
selectable
I/Oaddresses.
- Low power consumption, less than 250 ma @5 VDC (LPTI card only).
